YouTube begins pre-sale of the NFL Sunday Ticket subscription starting today. The company is selling the add-on to YouTube TV Base plan subscribers at $249 for the season. The company is also offering NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone bundles priced at $289 for the season during pre-sale.
The streaming company will increase the price of these two bundles by $100 once the pre-sale ends on June 6th. Users will have access to all local, national and off-market games.
For comparison, DirecTV, which has had the rights to air the NFL Sunday Ticket since 1994, paid $293.94 per season for the base package and $395.94 per season for the NFL Sunday Ticket Max package with additional content.
Last year, YouTube began selling subscriptions to other streaming providers by offering Primetime channels — this is different from YouTube TV add-ons. The Google-owned service will also sell the NFL Sunday Ticket through this store at a pre-sale price of $349 and a retail price of $449. The NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL RedZone bundle will cost $389 during pre-sale and $489 afterward.
YouTube snapped up the streaming rights to NFL Sunday Ticket last December in a deal that reportedly cost Google $2 billion per season.
Last month, the company announced a feature under early access called the “Multiviews” feature. It allows users to view multiple streams in a mosaic format on a single screen. YouTube said it will enable this functionality for NFL Sunday Ticket broadcasts.
The company also promises a long list of features such as unlimited DVR storage, personalized recommendations, the ability to view key plays, NFL Fantasy data, real-time stats and hiding spoilers on YouTube TV. Plus, features for multiple shows and major plays are coming to Primetime channels.
Users who subscribe through Primetime channels will see live NFL games featured prominently in their feeds, so they can quickly jump to the action on game days, right on YouTube. We’re also working on adding shopping integrations so viewers can easily purchase merchandise to support their teams, And social features that YouTubers are already familiar with, like chat, polls, and more, the company said in its announcement.
