- Nest Secure will officially end on April 8, 2024. Units will not receive any updates after that time and will stop working in the Nest app.

- Dropcam and Works with Nest programs have also been discontinued.
Nest Secure users will officially have to find a suitable replacement for their beloved home security system before April 8, 2024. After that date, Nest Secure systems will stop receiving security updates and will no longer be available in the Nest app, which means they will stop receiving security updates. Nest Secure was officially discontinued in October 2020 (Opens in a new tab) But it has been supported and used in the old Nest app since that announcement. Now, users will need to choose among the best smart home security systems (Opens in a new tab) as a decent alternative but Google hopes you’ll stick to their latest project instead.
Recently announced ADT Self Setup (Opens in a new tab) It’s offered free of charge to some existing Nest Secure customers. Google has not determined which users are eligible for the free upgrade, so we reached out to them to find out more. We’ll update this article when we find out. For now, expect an email from Google if you’re an eligible Nest Secure customer.
In addition to the Nest Secure sunset, Dropcam support will officially end on April 8, 2024, as well. Dropcam has been around long before Nest cams and is one of the oldest smart home security devices on the market with active support and updates. Finally, Works with Nest officially ends on September 29, 2023. Google has announced that Works with Nest will be back in 2019. (Opens in a new tab) But the company kept it around for several years to ensure a smooth transition to new standards like Matter (Opens in a new tab). Google says it is working with partners who still use the Works with Nest APIs to ensure that these products continue to work after this date.
