
At the Star Wars Celebration in London, Lucasfilm announce The Star Wars movie “The Acolyte” is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024. The series takes place at the end of the High Republic era before the events of the main Star Wars films. Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae will star in the lead roles.
The cast also includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Jacinto, Daphne Keen, Judy Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, and Dean-Charles Chapman. The series was first announced at Disney’s Investor Day in 2020.
Lucasfilm also announced today that the “Ahsoka” series will begin in August of 2023. Ahsoka made her live-action debut in the second season of “The Mandalorian After it was initially introduced in anime shows. The series stars Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
The upcoming shows will join the growing list of live-action Star Wars series on Disney+, which includes “The Mandalorian,” “Andor,” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”
In addition, the company revealed that the second season of “Andor” will begin in August 2024. Filming began in November and is expected to end in August.
Lucasfilm has also announced three Star Wars movies, one of which will feature the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey. The film takes place 15 years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker” and centers around Rey forming a new Jedi Order. One movie will return to the Dawn of the Jedi, while the third will focus on the New Republic, wrapping up the interconnected stories told in “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” “Ahsoka,” and other Disney+ series. Disney and Lucasfilm have not disclosed release dates for any of these films.
