Last year, Lava introduced the Blaze—a sub-$10k phone that didn’t come cheap, thanks in large part to its glass back. Now the company is ready to launch the sequel with the help of Amazon India. The new model still has black glass (in blue, black, and orange) which is a fairly big upgrade over the original.

Lava Blaze 2 in Glass Orange, Glass Blue, and Glass Black
The price will be INR 9,000 during a special launch offer – sales start on April 18 (Tuesday next week). The regular price of the phone is INR 11,000.
Lava Blaze 2 brings a more powerful chipset, which is Unisoc T616. It has Cortex-A75 cores in addition to six A55s and Mali-G57 MP1. For comparison, the original Blaze’s Helio A22 only had four CPU cores and they were old A53 cores at the time. The Lava promises an AnTuTu score of 9.5.5 at over 250K, and the company says that makes it the most powerful phone in its class (under $10,000).

Additionally, the RAM is doubled to 6GB (plus the default 5GB of RAM, if you like it), so the performance of the new model will pick up a lot over the original. Storage has also been doubled and is now 128GB (UFS 2.2). It can be expanded using a microSD card (up to 1 TB). However, the phone still runs Android 12 out of the box, which is pretty outdated at this point.
The screen has been beefed up too, it’s still a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution (20:9), but it now has a 90Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint reader has moved to the side (the power button) and takes 0.383 seconds to unlock the phone (faster than the 0.76 seconds it takes for the face unlock system to do the same).

Another improvement is the 5,000mAh battery, which now boasts an 18W charging rate (up from 10W). Charging is still fast, taking 2 hours and 9 minutes to reach 100%. Once the battery is full, it’s good for 8 hours of YouTube playback. There’s a USB-C port on the bottom, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. FM radio on board.

Something that hasn’t changed is the camera setup – there’s a 13MP main unit on the back with a 2MP auxiliary and LED flash, as well as an 8MP camera on the front (punch hole this time).
However, Lava Blaze 2 is a huge improvement over the original with the new chipset being the biggest upgrade. Again, the launch price is $9,000 and you’ll find the phone on Amazon and Lava online store starting April 18th. Free Lava service @ home view means that if anything goes wrong with the phone, a technician will come to your doorstep. To solve the problem (subject to terms and conditions of course).
