What you need to know
- The Peacock app is now available on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro in the US and some US territories, including Peacock’s entire library of content and live sports.
- Existing Quest owners will get 3 months of free subscription, while new Quest owners will get 1 full year of Peacock for free.
- The default screen can be resized to be as big or small as you want, and you can multitask by opening Peacock and several other apps simultaneously.
Want to watch a show, but no one at home is interested in it? Now, you can with Peacock on the Meta Quest platform, which gives you your own personal screen of any size to sit back and enjoy all your favorite shows.
Just like in other platforms, Peacock (Opens in a new tab) The app is free to download and use, and a premium Peacock subscription is included for a limited time with every Quest 2 (Opens in a new tab) or the Quest Pro headset. If you own a Quest headset before April 11th, expect a promo code to arrive in your Meta email inbox so you can get three months of Premium Peacock for free. New Quest owners will get a full year of Peacock Premium on Meta.
Peacock joins other great media apps (Opens in a new tab) such as YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video by presenting their entire content library in VR. However, it aims to improve the experience on those apps by providing a fully resizable screen that will get you as close to the action as you want. If you can’t go to your favorite baseball, football or soccer game, this is the next best thing.
Peacock also works with Quest’s built-in multitasker, so you can run other apps along with Peacock Stream. Surf the web, chat with friends, or do whatever else you want to do while relaxing. Right now, you can’t invite others to your Horizon Home room to watch with you, but we hope Meta will add this functionality in the future.
Meta also announced that new home environments, Horizon Worlds, and Meta avatars will feature content from Universal Monsters, Halloween Horror Nights, and The Office, so you can hang out at your favorite locations while watching your favorite shows.
