Google is officially shedding some light on what users can expect from the Fitbit account migration. According to a Keyword post, Fitbit users can start migrating their health and fitness data to their Google accounts this summer. The company is giving all Fitbit users until 2025 to merge their Fitbit account into their Google account.
Plus, starting this summer, new Fitbit users will have to sign up with a Google Account.
As the months heat up, users will start to see the “Fitbit is part of the Google family” splash page when they open the app. This will start the process of migrating all your account details and bring up some key features on Google’s side. The first will bring the added convenience of having just one convenient login as users will use their Google account password to access Fitbit and access their data. Likewise, all of your information will be associated with your Google account.
With Fitbit integrating Google accounts, your account details will remain unchanged. The upcoming integration will contain your health and fitness history along with your health data.
Concern about the security of your data is understandable, and Google is trying to provide some peace of mind. The company stated that users will soon have a unified set of privacy controls, including the ability to manage all of their health and fitness data directly from Google’s Privacy Center. Just like the other apps shown here, you’ll also see where you’re currently logged in.
Finally, Google states that health and wellness data obtained through Fitbit will not be used for ads.

Google bought Fitbit in 2021 for $2.1 billion, and since then, the two have been getting closer and closer. This includes introducing the “Fitbit by Google” brand and launching the Pixel Watch, the first (and currently only) smartwatch to use Wear OS to showcase Fitbit’s services.
Last year, Google announced that it would begin Fitbit account migration “sometime in 2023,” well before the 2025 deadline to transfer all accounts. Recently, we’ve begun to see signs that Fitbit has been preparing its users for the upcoming merger by alerting some about the migration. However, you still have a few years to transfer your data.

The Google Pixel Watch offers seamless integration of Fitbit and everything useful about AI. Users can track their sleep, check exercise data, and monitor their stress levels. The Pixel Watch can also be used for payments, map directions, and the Google Assistant is always ready for any queries.
