What headsets work with PSVR 2?
PlayStation VR2 has no built-in speakers, and relies on a 3.5mm headphone jack and basic wired earphones with the headset. You can use any headphones with an audio jack for best performance, or you can try a USB-A Bluetooth adapter with AptX Low Latency (although this didn’t always work for us).
Your best bet is the official Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, which is designed specifically for the PS5 and ships with an adapter in the box. But you can also try third-party PS5 wireless headsets, as long as you have the right adapter to use them.
Should you go wired or wireless?

Most VR headsets such as the Quest 2 do not support Bluetooth, due to possible audio delay and due to the power drain of the wireless headset. And with PSVR 2, the recommended option is to use wired headsets with a 3.5mm headphone jack, to avoid the same problem.
However, during the initial presentations of the headphones, Sony asked journalists to use the Sony Pulse 3D Wireless headphones without Wired connection, so obviously the PS5 officially supports wireless audio. The question is whether or not you should.
Why you should, and how to use the PSVR Wireless Headset 2
We don’t have the specs on the PSVR 2 headset, but I suspect the onboard drivers are anything to brag about. They’re adequately functional but not particularly rich, and even with so many ear tips, they’re not particularly comfortable and can easily fall out.
For this reason, you may want to upgrade to headphones with 3D sound, for richer immersion and directional sound. This will help you know in which direction to run or how far away the enemies are from you when playing the best PSVR 2 games.
The other advantage of wireless headsets is that you don’t have anything hanging off the PSVR 2 when you put it on; You can just plug in the headset and put it into passthrough mode then Put the headphones over your ears. Plus, of course, you can use these headphones with your regular PS5 games while sitting anywhere.
Just keep in mind that the PS5 doesn’t directly support Bluetooth headsets, even for non-VR games. but you are Can Insert the Bluetooth adapter into the front USB-A port – leaving the USB-C port free for the PSVR 2 – and then take advantage of low-latency audio, with a delay of 40ms instead of 220ms with standard Bluetooth.

Why you shouldn’t (or maybe can’t) use a PSVR 2 wireless headset
While we’ve seen Reddit posts from PSVR 2 headset owners who’ve successfully used a Bluetooth headset with an adapter, my fellow VR nerd Nick Sutrich tried it with his Bluetooth earbuds and found that the PS5 disabled that audio setting when he switched to PSVR 2, so his game was completely silent.
Basically, unless you’re using a 3D Pulse, we recommend that you keep your receipt for whatever adapter you buy, in case it doesn’t work with any Bluetooth headphones or wireless earbuds you own.
As for why you shouldn’t (maybe) use a PSVR 2 wireless headset, the reasons are obvious: you have to worry about its battery life, it makes your head excessively warm when playing active VR games, and it’s 300-400g weight over the 560g PSVR 2 headset.
You can always plug your wireless headphones into the 3.5mm jack, but worry about dangling wires, and having to remove the headphones before taking the headset off. every-time You’ll get tired. In addition, even a low-latency AptX connection has a higher latency than a wired connection.
All in all, it’s no surprise that a lot of PSVR 2 users stick with earphones.
If you want to buy a PS5 wireless headset, any pick from our list of favorites should work as long as it comes with an adapter; Simply ensure that the headphones you choose are relatively lightweight for your comfort.
Really, we’re just waiting for Sony’s Project Nomad true wireless earbuds, because we know they’ll work natively with PS5 and give us a better lightweight experience. In the meantime, I’ve personally turned to Pulse 3D – at least for more stable PSVR 2 experiences.
