Discord officially offers its own in-app audio panel that you can use in your audio channels. With the soundboard, you will be able to play all kinds of sounds in the audio channels to have some fun or bugging a friend. The feature was previously a trial available to a limited number of communities, but will now be rolling out over the “coming weeks,” according to the Discord blog.
However, there’s a catch: You’ll only be able to make sounds using the Discord soundboard on the desktop app. If you’re on a mobile phone, you’ll hear the sounds but you can’t use the pad yourself, says Kellyn Slone, director of product communications. the edge. However, any official Discord soundboard is still an improvement, where previously you had to rely on third-party software like Voicemod if you wanted to use a soundboard with the app.
Fortunately, if you don’t want to hear sounds from Discord’s sound panels, you can turn their volume down entirely in Settings, according to the Discord support document. And if you want to limit who can use the soundboard in your server, you can set these permissions.
Nitro subscribers will get an additional benefit with their own soundboards: they will be able to use sounds uploaded through different servers. And this is just one of the few new benefits Nitro subscribers will get, including additional themes and special decorations for your avatar. Nitro Subs are also getting new “super reactions” you can use on the desktop app that add some animated flair to emoji interaction and, upon launch, everyone Discord desktop users will get two super interactions to test the feature.
Correction: April 6, 11:59 a.m. ETDiscord originally provided a different spelling for the product communications manager name. It’s Clen Sloan, not Clen Sloan.
