TL; DR
- Google has launched the first beta of Android 14.
- The release timeline was similar to Google’s Android 13 release timeline.
- The stable launch is likely to take place in August.
Google revealed its Android 14 schedule for February 2023, with the first developer preview beginning on the same day as the reveal. The schedule planned by the company is very similar to the schedule planned by the giant company for Android 13.
On April 12, Google released the first Android 14 beta, just as expected. This is the first release designed to be tested by the public. If you have a supported Pixel phone, you can install the Android 14 beta right now.
Judging from the Enterprise release date chart, the next few updates will be frequent updates for this first beta. However, a May update is likely to launch around Google I/O and could see more new features than the other releases. If all goes as planned, Google expects to reach platform stability sometime in June.
Android 14 timeline

Since the Android 14 release schedule is very similar to Android 13, it is fair to assume that Google will take a similar approach. Last year, Google had two developer previews and eight betas of Android 13 before releasing the official update. If Google does something similar this year, there’s a good chance we might see Android 14 launch sometime in August. However, there is no guarantee that delays will not occur.
As for the phones that will get the new operating system, you can expect all versions of the Pixel that have not yet reached the threshold of a major operating system update, which is every Pixel after the Pixel 4a 5G. The same can be said about recent Samsung phones. If you don’t know if your Samsung phone still qualifies, check out our list, which includes every Samsung device that gets four major OS updates.
The Android 14 release date for the Pixel phone likely predates others, as it always does. It is difficult to determine the release date of the operating system for Samsung. One UI 5 was the fastest OS build Samsung has made, and the company has said it wants the next update to be faster.
Here are the important Android 14 schedule milestones we’ve seen in 2023, so far:
